Shopping for a new pair of running shoes can be quite overwhelming. However, if you know your pronation and foot type, the selection can be trimmed down to just a few pairs. For under-pronation or runners with high arches, the Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX Women’s Running Shoes is a good choice.
The current trend among running shoes today is the “minimalism” or the incorporation of minimal cushioning. Many podiatrists and minimalists claim that heavily-cushioned shoes are against the human body. Running shoes should be close to barefoot as the body should not be too dependent on them.
The Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX Women’s Running Shoes are made with this standard. It is one of the best running shoes today. Let’s find out if this is indeed worth buying.

Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX Women’s Running Shoes Review
Asics stands for the Latin phrase “anima asana in corpore sano”, which translates to “a sound mind in a sound body.” For more than 50 years, this Japanese company has been manufacturing footwear and sports equipment with this principle in mind.
The Gel-Venture 6 MX ranks among the top-performing shoes in the market today.
Features
The Gel-Venture 6 MX Running Shoes is specially made for runners who strike the ground with the outer part of their heel first. In short, it is for high-arched foot runners. Available in 21 colors, the Gel-Venture 6 MX Women’s Running Shoes offers more than just aesthetics.
- Materials
The Gel-Venture 6 MX is made of imported synthetic materials and proprietary designs. These components are interwoven together to create comfort, durability, and support for those with high arch feet.
This pair weighs nine ounces that you almost feel to be running in the air. It comes in half sizes for better fit and versatility.
- Gel Brand Technology Cushioning System
The rear foot area is made with a Gel Brand Technology Cushioning System. This cushion absorbs shock on high-impact stances when running on difficult terrains. It prevents extreme tension on foot and supports convenient long-distance runs.
This system also creates a smooth transition to mid-stance in order to avoid foot pain and inappropriate postures.
- Removable Sock Liner
A lot of other running shoes don’t have this feature—a removable sock liner. This liner creates room for a medical orthotic for support. The Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX doesn’t stop people who suffer from light foot pain or orthopedic patients from moving. It provides the comfort and support needed for such conditions.
Because of the sock liner, the Gel-Venture 6 MX can help relieve foot muscle pain. It is not only ideal for long-distance running, high arches, and as everyday shoes, but it is also perfect for performing physical rehabilitation therapies.
- AHAR Outsole
The AHAR is an acronym that stands for Asics High Abrasion Rubber. It is the material used in the outsole of the Gel-Venture 6 MX. It is positioned in highly critical areas that receive the most tension and abrasion.
This AHAR outsole gives the shoe the ultimate durability and strength needed for running on various trails. The reversed lugs of the outsole have a secure upward and downward traction to create a superior grip on various terrains.
This trail-specific outsole is an excellent feature of neutral running shoes. It enhances the runner’s confidence in every step and position.
Summary of the Features
The Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX Women’s Running Shoes is a neutral running shoe intended for supination or high-arched runners. It is made with durable synthetic materials, such as rubber soles and high-abrasion outsoles, that protect the feet against extreme shock. It is lightweight and comfortable enough for long-distance running and as daily wear.
The Gel Cushioning Technology reduces the tension from the foot when it lands to the ground. The sock liner is detachable to give room for any required orthotic. It supports foot pain and can even help in orthopedic treatments.
Comparison with a Similar Pair of Running Shoes
The Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX Women’s Running Shoe seems like an excellent choice, but some runners may want an alternative. Another neutral running shoe to consider is the New Balance Women’s W1540V2 Running Shoe. It is manufactured by a favorite shoe and athletic wear company trusted for long years.
This New Balance W1540V2 is a product that supports comfortable, improved running performance. Made with 100% synthetic material, it is durable and resistant from tear and abrasions. It is comfortable and lightweight enough that it can be thrown into and washed in the washing machine.
The dual-density foam collar and breathable mesh panels provide maximum fit and comfort. It allows air circulation inside to prevent sweating and unwanted smell. It has a 10mm heel-to-toe drop ideal for neutral runners.
Similar to the Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX, this New Balance W1540V2 has a medical support feature that comes as Medicare reimbursement eligibility. The Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX fits as expected by 86%, while the New Balance W1540V2 fits by 80%. As another comparison, the Asics running shoe is more affordable and worth the money than the New Balance W1540V2.
Conclusion
When it comes to choosing the best pair of running shoes, identifying your foot type and pronation is essential. With this knowledge, you will know the appropriate kind of running shoe for you. For high-arched runners and under-pronation, neutral running shoes are the most appropriate.
After a thorough evaluation, we can conclude that the Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX Women’s Running Shoes is an excellent shoe for supination or under-pronation. It provides the needed support and correction when the foot rolls too much on the outside. It is suitable for high arches and for running long distances on any terrain and as daily comfort shoe.
Even though the New Balance W1540V2 has a more breathable mesh than the Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX, the latter is still the better choice. It has the ultimate strength against abrasion and enough support for comfort, stability, and posture. If you have a high-arched foot, this Gel-Venture 6 MX is the best for you.

Great review of the Asics Gel-Venture 6 MX women’s running shoes, they sure look sleek and functional at the same time. There are so many features that I look for when I shop for a running shoe that will work for my wife (I do know her tastes) and in running through the list you have included(no pun intended), these shoes will work.
The small toe size is not an issue, she has quite a few pair that are designed much the same, I guess she is blessed with having a small footprint (unlike me). She has a foot shape that requires the support that these shoes provide, so now the next step is to order them and have them arrive before the next event that we will attend.
Thanks for your advice and review, you have saved me quite a bit of time researching on what to buy and I appreciate that. I now have more time to get that next run in!

I absolutely love your comment that running shoes should be as close to barefoot as possible so the body doesn’t become too dependent on them. I love shoes that are able to keep my natural biomechanics going and allowing my foot to spread as it lands, as much as possible to how it would land if I truly was barefoot.
These shoes look truly comfortable! I love the idea of the gel comforts. How durable are the gels compared to the rest of the shoe? Is there any chance of them breaking open during a workout?
