  1. This topic is a sticky one for me simply because these fitness monitors are essentially for running or cycling.  Once you try multi fitness movements such as in Crossfit, they lose connection frequently and become inaccurate.  I have tried.

If you run or cycle or row they are good.  No question, but having tried many, the only one for me that has come close to real data is the polar.

That is the one I have.  I use it rollerblading and sometimes during crossfit and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

    • Hi, Stew thank you.

I agree that it does matter what you are doing. Like you say, running and cycling, hiking is an example of sports which are excellent for heart rate monitor. On same time contact sport aren´t is not ideal for it.

For contact sports, or sports with significant actions like Crossfit, I recommend preferring running watches like these for example.

If I can help you with anything else, or if you have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.

  2. I have been looking for a heart rate monitor for a while now. This article had three interesting and very techy devices which can monitor heart rates and they were all Bluetooth.

Personally I love the Scosche RHYTHM+ Heart Rate Monitor Armband. It has so many features that I love. First of all I like how it works with MapMyftness app because I use that app and it will be really easy for me to sync my workouts and heart rates.

It has a battery life of 8 hours which is really good for me. And also it has 100 feet range which will be rally handy. I’m going to buy this next week. Can’t wait to use it.

  3. I need to monitor my heart rate while exercising. I’m not that young anymore and want to see how my body reacts to activities.

I looked at your no recommendation, the Scosche Rhythm and heart beat monitor. I think this is a great tool. The only thing that was troubling me is that it doesn’t store the data. Does that mean I have to have an external storage or how does this work then?

I really like this product, I have a smartphone, can I download an app to connect the devices?

    • Hi, Stefan and thank you.

Yes, it is the main cons with the Scosche Rhythm. What you need to do is to have an app to see and track the data. For example, Runkeeper is one of many apps which works well with it.  Not a huge problem but it would have been better not to have this cons for sure.
