  1. Thanks for your foam roller review. I have been using a smooth, smaller roller for the last few years and I have been thinking about upgrading to a longer roller with grooves. As a long distance runner, I know how important it is to use a foam roller daily to help with recovery and help prevent injury. I really like how some rollers come with online videos to teach you the proper way to use the rollers.

    • Hi, Micah and thank you.

Both small and large roller is good. Both have pros but no real cons. The most important thing is to do it regularly and special in places which hurts. There is no need to roll over the area don´t feel a problem, focus on the places which send you the “hurt” signal and give you time to roll over on it.

And don´t roll over the lower back.

  2. Thank you for sharing this information – I didn’t know about foam rolling. During yoga we have block etc that we can use, but the foam roller looks much more comfortable. I think I would like try this along side my yoga workouts.  Looks so therapeutic too! Might save some money on a massage therapist too! Thank you, a fantastic product!

    • Hi, Shelley Ann and thank you.

The block is, in my opinion, better for you in yoga. Because it gives you better balance than you would have from the FOAM Rollers. But when I go to yoga, training method that I recommended highly, I like to use the FOAM Rollers for a few minutes because of movement and the blood flow.

  3. Good thorough review of many foam roller options.  I had to use one a while ago for tightness in my thigh area – not sure which muscle (you can see I am not a runner!) but was down the side of my upper thigh and I must say after using it provided relief that is for sure.

I didn’t realize there were so many options.  I am doing a program now that running is going to be part of it, so I dare say, I will be reusing my roller again.  Nice to know there are many options if I feel it’s not doing the job!  Thanks for your review on these.

    • Hi, Sharon Whyte and thank you.

Yes, there are many benefits to using it. And after three weeks regularly using there usually are significantly changing.

Because you say, you aren´t a runner.  This site will be for all sports, even so, running was the main focus in the start. In next month more games will come with the same focus, that all kind of people can have many benefits of advice and information on this site.

  4. I have actually never heard of a foam roller before reading your article. But it sounds like something that I could use. I’m not a runner but I hike a lot, and sometimes the day after a long, fast, hike I can hardly move from the muscle soreness!

Which of these foam rollers do you personally use? Have you found it to be very beneficial to recover from sore muscles?

    • Hi, Mariah and thank you.

Glad to hear that you know now more about the FOAM Rollers. Because, yes,  I feel so much difference that it is an important part of my training.
I use the LuxFit roller personally.

One of the great thing with FOAM Rollers is that it does not matter what exercised or sports you use, this is one of few things almost all people can have the benefit of using it regularly.

Too, this site will is for almost all sports, and I will start adding information about other sports than running in next months.

  5. I spend not less than 6 hours working on my desktop and by the time I finish every day, I feel an aching back pain. In the past I used to do some streching but its not working. It seems this article has all my support

Do you think foam rolling can be of help in this situation or may be you can advise me on the best solution

    Will really appreciate your help

    • Hi, Ngonidzashe Manzwangani and thank you.

I believe it will help you general. For example because of blood flow and improve your movements. But having said that, I do not recommend using it for the lower back. So if it is there that your pain is, have that in mind.

If I can help you with anything else, or if you have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.

  6. I have always generally just used the simple foam rollers like the Luxfit one you mentioned in your reviews, but I am quite intrigued by the TriggerPoint ones and the grooves that are on them, I generally use my foam roller for my back, would something like the TriggerPoint ones with the groove help for something like that?

    • Hi, Huy and thank you.

LuxFit is excellent too and if you are happy with it, is no reason to change. I use it personally also.

But there is a lot of personal tests which comes in the choose. For example, I started with LuxFit because I know that size was something for me. Other like more to have smaller to work with, but as the TripperPoint comes in multi sizes that count not for it. Too, both LuxFit and TriggerPoint are durable, and that is very important.

So the main question is if you like to work on a harder thing or not. If you generally want it more to have things harder, some people feel it not comfortable; I would change to TriggerPoint. If not, I would keep using LuxFit.

If I can help you with anything else, or if you have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.

  7. Since the start of the lockdown, I decided to start jogging, but after two days, I have come down with some serious pain on my muscles, especially on my thighs. I think the rollers would be of good help now when one cannot get a masseur. But my question on this is if the rollers are specifically for the thighs muscles alone or if there are other areas of the body that the rollers can be beneficial to.

    • Hello, Riley, and thank you.

Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, it is for all the muscles. And the blood flow is an important part of it too.

I use it a lot and feel the difference. Do it slowly and not put it. When you find a hard part in the body, give it time there. If it is a challenging, painful point, I have found it can take three weeks, and after it, it is excellent.

It doesn’t matter if you start in the back, legs, or other places. Just give you some minutes in it. It is a reason that pro athletics use is a few times a day.

Don´t hesitate to contact me if I can help you with anything else or if you have any questions.

  8. Hello there, I really haven’t heard much about a foam roller before, and I have been seeing some people being it to the gym, but it’s benefits are unknown to me. Learning about the importance of this roller makes me wonder how good I would have been doing if I knew of it earlier. I want to get the TriggerPoint GRID Foam Roller for myself and see who it works. I hope to get a good one. Cheers

  9. I usually have some back pain after going to the gym and was looking for a foam roller that would help me ease my pain. I recently used a foam roller that my friend had and felt that it is a good investment and wanted to get the best for myself.

The Luxefit looks like the one I should go for, although I wanted to ask which one is softest among them all?
