  1. These are all good options of a beginners golf club sets for kids. I like that they are made specifically for kids of certain ages. It’s important, so they can fit the little hands correctly. Lightweight is also an important feature. Buying 5 or 7 clubs set is up to the parents. Everybody’s budget is different. It’s great there are some affordable options as well.

    • Hi, Mary and thank you.

The technique is the key thing in golf. Many believe it is a power it that is wrong; it is the technique.

That is one of the key reason why it is so important to use the golf club sets which is correct for the kids. They much not be heavy and the kids much are comfortable with it.

  2. A very informative article. However Golf remains a very expensive sport, especially to try out especially when talking about introducing children to the sport. It has always concerned me and when I was introducing my son to the sport I fell upon a club shop that was prepared to loan out junior sets for a round, along with advice for purchasing at a later date. I tried to seek the same kind of support from two local major golf retailers, without success which I found very poor,

Wouldn’t it be a major coup for one of the major golf stores to adopt a progressive loan to purchase scheme for the young golfer?

    • Hi, Adrian Holland and thank you.

      Thank you for kind words.

Well, there are many possibilities to think about the thing you focus on.

For a start, and keep on mind that courses, special for children is very different between clubs and countries, I believe many clubs offer loan for children when they are on beginners courses. I´m sure many don´t but at least where I am located it they offer it.

That is an excellent way to see if the children like it or not from the start. If we find out it like it, you can try for some time to play in the club they loan your child the sets. I know interesting children can change a lot, but probably you will get an idea.

The reason I talk about it is mainly two reason and one particularly important. That is that if the kids start using wrong clubs, like for adults, it can have a very bad effect of their technique. And the problem is that the technique is the crucial thing and train to have all the finesse in that. Using wrong golf club can because of it have a bad effect on the playing for a long time when they are older. Because we never know if they want to play in when they are older, and the golf clubs are very different. For example are thin bats for development players but thick back for beginners. The golf clubs have different degrees. That is so important to use the same and learn on it before you take the next step. And part of it is because of the degrees because the higher the degrees is, the more the ball flies which is better for beginners. Using loans clubs means that you always have different clubs so you don´t developments as much as you can.

The other reason is that the golf clubs sets don´t need always to be so expensive. For example, the price of the PreciseGolf Co. X7 Junior Golf Club Set is excellent. For beginners is no need to have more than 5 clubs, no reason at all. And it costs too loan a golf clubs sets. So, in the long run, it can be a question if it is cheaper even so it is excellent at the start.

But of course, costs are significant but there are a lot of things is have in mind as I have explained.

If I can help you with anything else, or if you have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.

  3. I’d like to get my son into playing golf, he’s currently 10. I’m a bit concerned about his temper though, but I think he’ll enjoy it when he’s older. Anyway, as far as buying golf clubs for a boy aged 10, is there anything you could recommend, and how quickly would he grow out of a set, and require a new set?

    Reply
    • Hi, Nigel Robinson and thank you.

Temper can be used in both and proper way with success in sports in mind. You need to have it, but at the same time you need to control it. And in many ways, sports is an excellent way to train and control your temper.

There are many factors which come in to decide when he is ready for new sets. In my opinion, if you choose good golf clubs sets in the start (don´t need to be expensive), he can use it longer. Five clubs are enough when he starts and rather than buying a new one; you can add more clubs when he gets better.

Too, let him use clubs which designed for beginners. They have thick bats, but thin bats are more for developed golfers.

One more thing I would recommend. All clubs head have different degrees. The higher the number is, the better for a beginner because it means that the ball the ball flies higher.

If I can help you with anything else, or if you have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.

  4. I remember the problem we had when my son decided to take up golf at 14 yrs old and he was in between sizes. Jr was too small and adult too big. the golf pro giving him lessons said to get a woman’s set and trim the shaft. He helped measure for growth but just right. Took lessons and joined a league and did and still does better than me.

I see by your site the variety today, and you helped give good reasoning about the sizes and cost. Cost is why I think we went the way we did, but I believe we paid about the same as the 7 club JR you have listed so great prices overall.

I enjoy walking and hiking so I am going to also read up on your socks I saw. One can never have too many good socks if they hike a lot which my wife and I do. I will return. Thanks

    • Hi, Bill and thank you.

Yes, it can be tricky to choose the right clubs sets. Because if the wrong set is used, it can have a significant effect for a long time if it means that he uses an incorrect technique, which can happen quickly with wrong club sets.

So great to know he got good to advise and you could help him with that.

    • Hi, LearnToEarn Admin and thank you.

      Thank you for kind words.

When kids start young, they can develop the technique so much from the start. Which mean if they have interest to play a lot when they get older, for fun or in competition (which is of course fun too!),  they have an excellent possibility to do great things on the fields.

Because learning the technique correct from the start and then build on it is so very important!
