Best Running Headbands: Three Picks for Runners

Best Running Headbands

Headbands rocked as a fashion statement in the late 1970s. However, today, the best running headbands are a necessity for the elite runner. Does your headband tick the following?

  • Keeping long hair off your face as you run
  • Wicking the sweat away from dripping past the eyes
  • Staying in place throughout the race
  • And finally, leaving your skin as smooth as it was before the race

If your best running headbands fall short of these four, read on. We have reviewed the best four headbands in this article; ideal for athletes.

Finding The Best Running Headbands

There are plenty of product manufacturers these days, and all of them are claiming that they produce the best running headbands.

When looking for headbands, there are several factors to consider. First is the moisture absorption capability of the product. There are product makers with patented technology for the moisture absorption properties of their products, while others do not use any.

The fabric is another consideration when choosing a running headband. Aside from the moisture absorption capabilities of the fabric, runners would have to pick one that has a smooth feel. Otherwise, they may end up feeling irritated or distracted because the fabric’s touch on the skin is itchy.

The fit is quite important, too. One has to choose a product that stays in place during running and fits comfortably on the face. A headband that is too snug might cause headaches and skin irritation. Likewise, a runner would not want a loosely fit product because it will keep falling off.

  1. Headbands are essential for the ones who don’t get along well with the sweat dripping down from their forehead. I don’t have the habit of headbands, but it has become a necessity for me these days.

Self Pro Mens Headband seems decent and professional. I think I will get one for myself. French fitness revolution also seems pretty good. A French runner comes to my mind 😀

    • Thank you, Tyler Redlev.

Yes, I like headbands a lot in the summertime because it´s great to have something to a minimum the sweat all over the face.

Both Self Pro Mens Headband and the French fitness revolution is excellent.

  2. Being a runner myself, I know what you are talking about. Everything irritating needs to be eliminated so that we can have full focus on our running.

I am using headbands, but mainly in the winter to get rid of the cold ears. Having short hair, this is not an issue for me. However I do sweat, so I will consider using a headband now.

The French Revolution headband looks interesting, except for the fact that it loosens up after machine wash. What kind of washing do you recommend then?

    • Thank you, Thomas.

I entirely agree with you. When you run, you need to keep focus and minimum or move away if possible, all thing which can irritate you.

In cold weather is headbands perfect. But even better is to use running hats because it usually covers the head better than headbands. Have in mind that doesn´t need running hats only in cold weather but too in raining, dust and sun.

Quality running hats absorb and breathe out moisture and sweat that are supposed to flow down the face and neck of the runner while breathing in cold air. So if you are focusing mostly on defence your ear and head in cold weather, I would think if I wear you about using running hats. About the cold, it is better to use running hats.

You can see this review for example

But at least I, and many more runners, feel it very irritating to have the sweat on face and neck when I run. That is the way I like so much to run with headbands in circumstances when I know it´s a significant possibility I get very sweaty, like in very hot weather for example. In that circumstance headband is excellent.

About the machine wash for the French Revolution headband, I recommended hand washing it. Don´t take much time and it dries very fast.
