  1. Hi,

This is a great article. I have recently started trail running and as I get stronger, I will definitely be looking in to using a weighted vest for short training runs.

How well do they wick away moisture? The weather can get pretty warm here and they look like they would be quite hot to wear.

    Thanks

    Tom

    • Hi, Tom and thank you.

This is an important thing you ask about. And this point is one of the things I researched when I was choosing which of the best the weighted vest I would recommend for running.

So with that in mind, I can recommend Hyperwear Hyper Vest Pro. The reason is the Moisture wicking and odor resistant fabric. Plus it is very comfortable.

  2. In all the years I have been running to stay in shape, I have never worn a vest- mainly because I did not know what options there were or which would best fit me. I have always been iffy on the fact that when I run, I don’t want the vest to grind on my armpit or press on my chest (creating a worse breathing pattern). Have you run into either of these issues with the products you have listed?

    • Hi, CravenATAT and thank you.

No, I haven´t.  But have in mind that all this 3 product is made for runners in mind. So one of the things which have been focused on, for sure, that it is comfortable to wear.

Even so,  I would think that Hyperwear Hyper Vest Pro would be interesting for you. Because it does not restrict freedom of movement and is very easy to put on and take off. Knowing the second part made you more comfortable.

  3. Hi there,

Thank you for providing such a great review about weight vest for running.

As an ex athlete myself I used to run a lot really love running so this is definitely my world:)

I have however never run witth a vest lik this , don’t know if you have ever run with vest like this but if so do you have tips for newbies?

    • Hi, Mitchell Balker and thank you.

The weighted vest is a very interesting thing in basic. I think the popularity of using it will only grow even so it will, probably, never be a big percentage of runner, joggers or people which like to walk. I see for example it is coming more in with CrossFit lovers, even so, I´m not sure about the percentage of it.

The point behind using the weighted vest is to have a much effort as possible for walking, running short or big distance. And that is why it is wise to start thinking like you were in the gym, and you can use it in the gym too by the way. If you were starting in the gym you would not put as many pounds/kilos on the bar you could because you could easily damage if you do it without knowing and training the technique first. And for the weighted vest, the same rule is the basic about how you start using it. You start slowly but steady. Add the pounds/kilos slowly but steady as your body get used to it. It is very important to know the technique and know your body first, then adding the pounds/kilos as you get better.

  4. From time to time I have wondered about the weighted vests but never took the initiative to shop for one.

I like the slim lightweight look of the Hyperwear Hyper Vest Pro.  The length and the side adjustment ties appeal to me much more than the shorter bulky ones.

Thank you for the information and comparisons.  In a way I went shopping for the weighted vest today.  I certainly know more about it.

    All the best,

It is great to hear that you liked the post and had the benefit of the article. That is the key idea, helping people to get ideas and information plus the pros and cons of each thing we review.

The vests are very, and I think it made things easier to find out what people like most. Because this vest gives extra, but at the same time it takes power to use it, so it is vital that you feel comfortable in it.

      Good luck.

  5. Good post, I had never tried this form of weight training, although when I was competing, I did use ankle weights to make my arms and legs faster. Is it simulate effort the vest has comparing with the weights on legs and arms?
I do have a question which I have been thinking about. Is MiR Adjustable Weighted Vest washable?

    • Hi, Harvey Brown and thank you.

      Thank you for kind words.

Yes, I know the weights for arm and legs, used it on my leg too. But I believe the vest is better because of its better balance and much easier to use, at least compared with the weight I used on my legs. But of course, it is a different form of training, using it on the upper part.

And yes, the MiR Adjustable Weighted Vest is washable.

If I can help you with anything else, or if you have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.

  6. Thank you for the article. Hyperwear Hyper Vest Pro is I believe the one for me. I’m really looking to adding some weight in my everyday life, not just while jogging. It looks like it should fit on me perfectly. My hope is that I will be able to wear it under my suit as that is what I spend my time most in.

I also absolutely love the fact that it’s not bulky at all and in that it seems to not restrict movement. As for the pockets tearing easily, I think I can get my grandma to solidify that so it doesn’t happen. It might sound cliche, but she have a degree in sewing and tailoring.

Two questions I have though. Does it come in only one color or are there options in regards to that?

And would you say it’s a good fit to develop some additional strength in one’s legs as that is the primary reason I want to get one? I seems for me that it should be the case. I asked some friends around, they also thought that it should work, but for sure we do not know.

Get back to me when you can!

Cheers and Have a Great One! Matiss

Great, you had the benefit of the post.

About the color, it comes only in black and silver.

And yes, it is the idea that it gives your body strength, not at least the legs. They will stronger, and you add some weight on it in training.

      Good luck.
