The Best Running Underwear For Women

The Best Running Underwear For Women

Running is a very low-maintenance sport which should always be comfortable. But, if you don’t get the best running underwear for women, you may never run faster, farther, or even stronger without going through some mishaps here and there. Unlike what we always assume, an elite runner will attest that the right running gear is not just about a good pair of running shoes. It is about the clothes you wear too. One such underrated piece is the underwear.

The Perfect Running Underwear Construction

Wearing the best running underwear for women is vital especially if you are in your monthly menstrual cycle and you need the extra support and protection for a pad, or if you want moisture-wicking underpants to avoid the unwanted swampy feeling. Go for comfortable, non-movement restricting, light, proper-fitting, stretchy, and breathable underpants with seamless construction.

The best underwear fabric for women includes DryFit, Thinsulate, Thermax, CoolMax, polypropylene, and silk. These fabrics have antimicrobial treatments that prevent odor. They also sustain you through a hot day by dispersing sweat from the delicate skin areas to keep you dry and free from the chaff.

Cotton fabrics, on the other hand, tend to absorb and retain moisture, which then harbors harmful microbes that can result in a yeast infection or a jock itch. The right underwear will not move from side to side or become visible under your leggings. Instead, its smoothly stitched extra wide waistband will keep the briefs close to your body and provide you with a good foundation for running by wicking away all the sweat build-up from an intense workout.

Brands such as Under Armour, Nike Pro, ASICS, Adidas and ExOfficio are known for their quality running underwear. Let’s sample three of the best running underwear for women under these iconic brands.

  1. Good article.
My girlfriend likes to run, is an amateur runner and always complains about her underwear, which does not allow her to run comfortably or impede her from running more than she would like. I’m going to recommend that she read this post to see which of all the types fits her
    Thanks

    • Hi, Jesus and thank you.

      Good to hear.

It is so important to feel comfortable in all clothes, shoes and other things when you are running. Simple to keep the focus on the run and training. Plus if you feel well, your performance will always be better and more enjoyable.

  2. Just shared this with my wife, she has been looking for some good ones for what feels like forever 🙂 thank you for breaking it down and making it understandable what to look out for and how to choose the ones for you, because there is no ‘one fits all’ type. Again thank you and i hope my wife can finally find those that she will be happy with 🙂

  3. Very good article,  I was just about to get some more underwear and was looking for some tips how I should choose. My biggest concern was if I should by nylon and Lycra or cotton. All my clothes are cotton, but now feel convinced that I will need the ones with nylon and Lycra for the airflow. Thanks for the idea 🙂

    • Hi, Kisumu and thank you.

Your welcome. Even so cotton is comfortable in many circumstances, nylon and Lycra is for sure better when you run to keep you cool by allowing free airflow. I believe you will like the difference.

      Good luck.

  4. Hey SportSend, I like your article.
I know my mother does a little running and I think this is something that I think would benefit her greatly.  And I was thinking about giving her some clothes for her running. When I was searching for ideas to give her, I saw this article got this great idea to give her underwear for her running.
Plus, with my mother being a plus size female, it is good that this is ideal for her. Your post is definitely something I’m going to save. Great job!

    • Hi, R.J. and thank you.

Your welcome.  Good idea, as better the material is in all parts when you run, the better you feel. And when you feel better and more comfortable, the better your performance. All things count!

      Good luck.
