Summary

The William Painter “The Hook” Sunglasses are a pair of stylish, reliable, and functional sunnies. A wayfarer design with either black or grey lenses, these sunglasses are great for casual and even formal ensembles. Besides its look, you’ll also love the non-wire arms that are made from sturdy titanium metal. Rear-weighted, they are great for wearers with an active lifestyle as they tend to stay in place. Of course, weighing more than standard sunglasses, it might take a few uses before you get used to it.

As for its patented bottle opener design on the arms, it’s something that you may love or hate about it. Still, it’s discreet enough that barely anyone would notice it’s a bottle opener. Does it work as a bottle opener? Yes. But you have to exercise care in opening bottles with it as it may cause parts to break.

Comparison

  • Tom Ford Snowdon FT0237 05B Sunnies

If you are impressed with the William Painter “The Hook” Sunglasses but not a fan of the bottle opener design, then you might find your match in the Tom Ford Snowdon FT0237 05B sunnies which looks classic and modern at the same time. Like the product-in-review, its arms are made of ultra-lightweight titanium. The lenses are also scratch-resistant and anti-reflective. They offer 100% UV protection, too. On top of that, the lenses are superhydrophobic, making them anti-fog.

Despite the absence of the additional functions such as the William Painter “The Hook” Sunglasses’ bottle opener feature, the Tom Ford Snowdon FT0237 05B sunnies are more pricey than the already expensive product-in-review.

  • Woodies Wayfarer Walnut Wood Sunglasses

Whether you’re looking for something more eco-friendly or pocket-friendly, the Woodies Wayfarer Walnut Wood Sunglasses may be all you need. It’s a gorgeous combination of wood and plastic elements. Plus, it’s around six times cheaper than the William Painter “The Hook” Sunglasses. Compared to the product-in-review that has lightweight titanium for arms, these sunnies are lighter since they have wood as stems. But like the William Painter “The Hook” Sunglasses, the lenses are polarized and provide 100% UV protection. So, you can benefit from good eye protection without the hefty price tag of its competitors.

Still, it would be unfair to expect much from it in terms of durability. But if you are careful with them, then these sunnies will be around for a long while. And you’d be impressed that at its price point, they come with a sturdy case, microfiber lens cleaning cloth, and a wooden guitar pick.

  1. Thanks for your review of the Hook sunglasses. I always wondered if the hook in the frame was functional or not. I love how they come with a life time guarantee, just not so sure that I am totally sold on the design. I think that the Tom Ford glasses are more my style, just don’t want to spend that much money. I love how the lenses are anti- glare but are they also anti fog?

    • Hi, Micah and thank you.

Yes, the Hook sunglasses is fully functional with their anti-glare and UV protection features. I like it a lot, but the TomFord is excellent too and cheaper as you mention.

About the anti-fog, yes the lenses are superhydrophobic which made it anti-fog. Great sunglasses too!

  2. Is its anti-glare feature better than blue-ray glasses? I actually bought my own blue-ray pair of glasses from an optometrist. This pair I’m using is totally usable for outdoors and indoors, even helps me stay longer in front of the computer without straining my eyes.

My glasses are clear and has no grade. Just plain blue ray glasses. I was just wondering if the The Hook sunglasses by William Painter can have these features. You see, I’m planning to buy one for my husband but I also wanted something that has totally blue ray or same effect too.

    • Hi, Eli and thank you.

The choice is always a question about the pros and cons and choosing after think seeing it. If you are thinking most about using it in front of the computer, I will not want this product because it is sunglasses, so the purpose is not to have in front of a computer. I know what you have in mind about the laptop because I use myself special computer glasses.

The idea behind The William Painter sunglasses is to use it outside. There come to the Aerospace-Grade Titanium Arms strong in because it helps you to be very active without worrying about them breaking. So here is one of the essential pros about The William Painter sunglasses. But you need to think about how important it is for you. Some people don’t have worries about it; other do like I do after breaking glass a long time ago.

General, it is vital that your sunglasses block 99% of UV. The William Painter sunglasses provides optimal sun protection, from the glare to the UV rays. And it is excellent driving glasses too in my opinion.

You ask if The Hook sunglasses by William Painter can have these features. My conclusion is that they do except I would not use sunglasses in front of a computer. There I prefer standard glasses. Or, special, computer glasses.

  3. Hello, I really appreciate your time and effort on reviewing these sunglasses which look pretty cool and is definitely something I’d like to get for myself this summer.

I have never in my life seen a pair of sunglasses that come with a bottle opener, that is something very unique and would come in handy when I’m chilling at the beach and want to open a bottle of beer.

Too, I see that the glasses will sit very well when iI run. I am always a little worried about it slip from me.

    Thanks for the review.

  4. The William Painter company is nothing but a scam. Because the so-called Hook glasses, just like every other model of sunglasses on the William Painter website, are really just cheap Chinese junk that can be purchased for $10 or less if you know where to look. Furthermore, every single solitary word on the William Painter website is intentionally misleading, untrue, inaccurate, wrong, incorrect, out of context… and or simply fabricated out of this air by this company that actually claims in writing that Matt Ducelle, the big time “CEO,” has the “ethics of Nelson Mandela.” And if that’s not a red flag… I don’t know what is.

    • Hello, John Smith, and thank you.

Luckily we have different tastes and opinions. That is the reason for so many possibilities when we are choosing things we like to get.
The things we focus on, here in Sportssend.com is the help people to get information, advice, and ideas for all groups of sports fans. Amateur which plays or train for fun, a pro is looking for getting things to help them to get the extra they need to get their goals, fans, and people which loves to be in form, etc.

Because of it, we have reviews and information for such broad things. But, the articles have the purpose of giving people as good information as possible of the pros and cons. And to let people know about quality items.

We simply don´t see the reason to spend a place in things we don´t believe is not good.

I needed to talk about the purpose of the articles first. William Painters is not a scam. But like all other companies, it is always possible that so-called Monday items have been made and may you have been unlucky about it. But if that is so, one of the things I like about this company is their 100% Lifetime Money-Back Guarantee. So it is no risk if that happens.

About similar things is it true that sometimes you can equal things and even better. But then you need to compare precisely the same things, not similar. In the article, we mention that the price a hefty price tag.

But taken pros and cons together, we recommend it. But the pros and cons we have helped a lot of people to decide if it is for them or not.

Don´t hesitate to contact me if I can help you with anything else or if you have any questions.

  5. I love these sunglasses. I’m a huge lover of sunglasses and always have to get the latest and greatest. However, it’s been winter here in the US for the last few months, but summer is just around the corner. I’m thinking of getting something sleek looking but cheap at the same time. These look like they will fit the part. Plus, they’re scratch-resistant, which is a huge bonus for me. Thanks a lot!
