Saucony Men’s Hurricane ISO 4 Running Shoes Review

Saucony Men's Hurricane ISO 4 Running Shoes Review

There’s a wide array of rubber shoes to choose from when you walk into any store that sells them. There are many features available, and some are built for specific needs. Most of the time, you’d find yourself staring at the displays, and can’t even figure out where to begin.

You can at least narrow it down to a specific section if you are looking for running shoes. Those that are made for other sports can be brushed aside until you are actually getting involved in the same sport they were designed for.

Choosing the Right Kind of Shoes

Now that you are looking at running shoes, you’d be faced with several kinds of trail running shoes, and some barefoot running shoes. Then you have the most common ones, which are, of course, running shoes that were made for running on even, smooth surfaces such as roads or paved sidewalks, or treadmills.

But even among these, you’d find yourself looking at different types like neutral, stability, minimalist, and motion control. You’d also have to contend with different brands and various styles.

That being said, you really don’t have to limit yourself within specific classifications and types. Overall, what counts most is the ease of use and comfort. It is advisable though to restrict your choice within the categories that are designed for the specific activity you are getting the shoes for, like getting tennis shoes for tennis and running shoes for running.

In case you are looking for shoes specific for running, you might want to get the Saucony Men’s Hurricane ISO 4 Running Shoes. We looked into what it has to offer so that you can determine whether it is the perfect pair for you or not.

We hope you love the products we recommend! We only products that we thoroughly investigate and believe is a real value for you.Sports Send may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page. It is at no extra cost for you.

Comparison

The Saucony Men’s Hurricane ISO 4 Running Shoe can be compared to Mizuno Wave Horizon 2 Men’s Running Shoes. When it comes to color choices, both shoes have very limited options, which can be daunting for a discerning shopper.

Verdict

The Saucony Men’s Hurricane ISO 4 Running Shoes leads the Mizuno Wave Horizon 2 Men’s Running Shoes by a mile in a head-to-head battle. Saucony used textile and synthetic materials to construct their shoes, while the latter settled with 100% synthetic. They are in the same league when it comes to the soles as they both have rubber soles that provide the excellent grip and traction on the running surface.

The Saucony Men’s Hurricane ISO 4 Running shoes has the upper hand with the Everun cushioning feature that gives enhanced energy return as you run while providing uninterrupted cushioning with every stride that you make. It also has the ISOFIT lacing system which allows the fitting of the shoes to adjust to the shape of the foot and the changes that happen as it goes through the motions of a gait cycle.

  2. Was looking for a good shoe for hubby to get back into running. He just recovers from a knee injury and the doctor says he could go back granted, he must get a shoe with good support. We’ve seen Saucony on the store before but never read a review until now. Looks like it has got most features there and quite affordable too. Question – is it water proof by any chance?

    Thanks for the input.

  4. Intriguing: what on Earth is a barefoot running shoe? Surely if your foot is shoed it is not bare, and if your foot is bare, it is not shoed?

“stability, minimalist, and motion control;” are these actual things or just a sales pitch? For instance, what is “motion control”?

The “ISOFIT dynamic lacing” seems peculiarly named. “Lacing” to me would mean something to do with shoe lacing, but fortunately, the description is quite illuminating. The disaster for me is that I need wide fit shoes! Sad :=(

What do you think of the Mizuno Wave Horizon 2 Men’s Running Shoes for a wide fit? If not, what do you recommend for wide fitting (comfy!) running shoes?

    Thank you if you reply.

    • Hi, Tayo and thank you.

I always reply! It is good to hear from the readers and subscripts. And help if I can.

The idea behind the minimalist shoes is to between to types of favorite shoe types. The traditional running shoes which we know so well and the barefoot shoes. So in the minimalist shoes, they reduce the heel in traditional shoes, but barefoot lovers criticized the high of the heel a lot, but haven´t not as low as in the barefoot shoes.

And then the toe box gets a similar method. We need to have in mind that the idea behind the barefoot shoes is to run as natural as possible. So in the barefoot shoes, we have only 3-10 mm sole.

The idea behind the motion control shoes is to make running shoes which helps runners which severe overpronation. To do that the heels are for example made stiffer.

And then we have the last types of shoes you ask about, the stability shoes. Stability shoes are meant to match a specific type of gait, for runners with mild to moderate overpronation of their feet. In the initial creation of stability shoes, they were made to “correct” the pronation of the feet. Neutral forms were considered the ideal style, and some shoes were designed to allow the users’ feet to readapt this pattern of gait.

      More of it here.

So as you see, this is far from being a sales pitch! It is the profit of hard work to design a shoe which helps as many types, or method, of runners as possible. Like you can see in these sites there are a lot more of running shoe type like for example trail running shoes. And we should all be happy about them, so people can get shoes for what they have in mind and which are designed for their body and running style.

About the wide feet factor, I know that problem very well myself. I wrote a review about New Balance Men’s 481V3 Cushioning Trail Running Shoes which you can see here. I hope that it could be an exciting idea for you. They have the option between wide or extra wide and XX-wide, and it is a great shoe. So I hope and believe it could be an exciting solution for you!

  5. I decided to go ahead and click through to see the colors, but I loved the black/grey combo along with what looks to be accented in a forest green, one of my favorite shades of the color. The price is a little up there, despite the excellent features of the Hurricane ISO 4. However, that can be a great thing as we will get what we pay for. Have you seen or read any reviews on the shoe’s durability? Like, how long will it last before having to invest in a new pair?

    • Hello, Todd Matthews, and thank you.

Thank you for your kind words.

Great to hear about your benefit of the article.

First, about the price. What one feels expensive others don´t feel it expensive. Comparison with other shoes with a similar quality, I need to disagree. In my opinion, the price is very fair and even reasonable with that competition in mind.

They have developed these shoes a lot, and the Rubber sole and Everun midsole are excellent. And like you mention, if you know that you are getting more quality, it is understandable that it cost a little bit more than shoes with fewer qualities.

Then about the durable. I am always cautious when I talk about it because there are so many things which come in mind. Like how your body is, where and how do you run, how well you take care of your shoes, etc. Last week I was talking about a friend of mine which hike a lot, and we were talking about a great brand.

She told me that it was one of her best shoes she had got for hiking. She only needs to change each year. On the same time I have used my hiking shoes in 15 years, and it is still great! But I don´t use it much, and when I use it, it is more for a few hours walking in a row. She, on the other hand, walk a lot on a road which takes 1-5 days to walk in a very ambition place from nature, so the stress on the shoes is a lot.

And it is similar to shoes. There are thumb rules that shoes manage 3-4.000 miles, but there are so many factors which came in that picture. You should never run on to old shoes. But this model has an essential quality in all things which quality where durable come in so I would say that average it should be more durable than most shoes. Runners who run a lot on these shoes have talked about it too. So, in my opinion, you would be fine these shoes about how durable it is.

If I can help you with anything else, or if you have any questions, don´t hesitate to contact me.
