Dimensions

The gloves measure 12 inches by 7 inches by 5 inches and weigh 1.51 pounds. If you are an infielder looking for a chance to get out of an inning, this A900 series offers you a lightweight alternative for making that fast move. It is available in five sizes ranging from 11.5 inches to 12.5 inches. Additionally, the catcher’s mitt measures 34 inches.

Construction

The Wilson A900 Baseball Glove Series features a double palm construction with additional leather padding between the palm liner and the outer shell. This added reinforcement absorbs the shock from the ball and cushions the player on defense, thereby providing maximum pocket stability. It also protects the player’s hands from excessive sweating.

When it comes to the folds, the A900 glove series has a low profile heel on the front side that boosts the glove’s flexibility. It does this by opening up the palm and pocket areas. Subsequently, the infielders no longer have to worry about unpleasantly hitting the grounders or making bad hops. These gloves feature a design for both a left-hand throw and a right-hand throw orientation.

Apart from the Wilson A900 Baseball Glove Series, the other four models in the A900 series construction include an 11.75 inches right hand throw modified trap ease design, a 34 inches right hand throwback catcher’s mitt, a 12 inches right hand throw first baseman’s mitt, and an 11.5 inches right hand throw eye-web design.

All of these models have a Pedroia fit, making them a perfect choice for players with small hands. Both the hand opening and the finger stalls are small, giving the player better control and catch. This A900 series

Breaking in the Glove

Do you dread the break in process for your new gloves? Not anymore. The Wilson A900 Baseball Glove Series’ laces, shell and palm liner are of an exclusive ECCO Leather that conforms to the player’s hand from the start. This durable leather material gets softer with age and uses, giving the player a long-term break in the solution.

It is game ready softness that saves the players from the inconvenience and time lost to breaking in the glove.

Additionally, the glove’s double palm construction on the front side offers impressive stability. Therefore, it is an ideal option for that quick glove exchange during a tournament or a speedy recovery from a winter break. Unlike other baseball gloves, these gloves protect the players’ knuckles from getting impact related sores.

Webbing

The Wilson A900 Baseball Glove Series has a thumb to fingers single post web design, ideal for a first baseman position. It features both horizontal and vertical leather strips that boost the player’s flexibility and visibility. This open web pattern ensures the player can quickly and easily see and respond to a throw.

Pockets

The gloves have pockets with loose stitching and more full holes in between. Such a construction allows the players the flexibility to reach down and scoop the ball without picking up any extras from the ground. In addition to this, the see-through holes give the infielders a good view when catching pop-flys.

Comparison with Other Models

The Wilson 2018 A900 Gloves series is a softer version of the earlier models. It fits very quickly and better than the A360, A450, A500, and A800 series, and it comes ready to use.

If you are a baseball coach, consider getting these baseball gloves from Wilson for your team. These gloves are excellent for boosting beginners’ and kids’ confidence. They fit the kids’ hands well and secure the baseball firmly in the pocket.

Due to the gloves’ pleasant texture from day one, the young player will adapt and react better to tricky situations and placements. Therefore, these gloves will build the kids’ relationship with the game at a young age.

  3. What a great review on this baseball glove, my grandson who is 9 is in his second year of playing baseball.
The season starts here soon, and I wanted to buy him a glove for his birthday which is coming up next week, and I was kind of lost which one to buy, but after this review I think it will be this one, as he needs something a bit softer that will conform to his hand a bit better.. thanks for helping me make up my mind!

  4. Hi, we were just shopping for a glove for an 11-year-old today. She’s left-handed, and not sure whether or not she’ll stick with being an infeilder or outfeilder. With that in mind, would you recommend this glove, or something else? What would be the main differences that we’d find in outfielder’s gloves?

    Thanks so much!

    • Hello, Aly, and thank you.

No, I wouldn´t recommend these gloves when she hasn´t decided the position because it is for infielders only.

And because of that, she is left-handed, I would recommend Rawlings Player Preferred Baseball Glove. She can use it for almost all positions, and both left and right handed players can use it. I wrote a review of it which you can see here.

The main difference between the infielder and outfield gloves is in size. The reason is the speed that the infielders need to have when at the same time, the most important thing for the outfielders is to catch the ball. Because of that, the outfielders use the size of the gloves when they catch a “difficult balls to get” if we can say so.

  5. Great review of a great glove! This post took me back to the good old days in the outfield of my little league team, man I can still smell the grass. I think I had the predecessor of the Wilson 9000 and loved the easy feel of the ball once it broke in, and the cushioning held up as well to protect my palm.

  6. Greetings – This is a great review of the Wilson A900 Baseball Glove Series. It seems to be the perfect glove for the infielder. If the only con is that it’s ideal only for an infielder, then so be it. Wilson has always been the preeminent name in sporting goods, and this simply solidifies that reputation.

  7. The A900 Series is technically considered Youth Glove as it’s a snugger fit in the wrist, and the 12.5″ is for outfielders. Still, for an adult who’s using it just to play catch, they will be able to get away with using it in a non-competitive environment.thanks so much for sharing. I hope it helps others as it has helped me.

  8. I love this glove because of its amazing features like double palm construction. It makes it shock absorbent, which allows you to catch the ball comfortably. The glove also features full leather construction which makes it an exceptional long-term solution as it will fully break the more you use, the more comfortable you get with it
