Does Copper Fit Really Work?

Have you ever asked yourself the question, does copper fit really work? Ideally, copper fit supports the knee (or elbow) and helps reduce and/or eliminate muscle pains.

Further, it guards against pathogens and enhances blood circulation, especially through these particular joints. It is imbued with copper ions at the fiber level during manufacturing to prevent washout, wear, and tear.

A Detailed Understanding of Copper Fit Supports

Compression wear is defined as any garment made of flexible, firm, spandex-type material that fits tightly to the body. This tightness supports the muscles and enhances oxygen circulation. This can range from socks, t-shirts, shorts, and tights.

Idea Village Corp created Copper Fit supports. It is a compression garment infused with copper. People who engage in activities that require a lot of physical input are often the primary consumers. Its components are 82% Polyester and 14% Spandex Jersey and 4% Copper Ion Fiber with high-wicking modacrylic fiber added on top.

The History

Copper Fit’s original name was Copper Flex when it was launched in early 2014 along with other successful copper-infused launches by Idea Village. Its demand rose almost immediately because athletes and sports players were suffering from numerous muscle pulls and leg cramps and the promise of an end to the misery resonated with many. Copper Flex later changed to Copper Fit to blend better with its usage and to attract more customers.

The Manufacturer

Idea Village Products Corp, the original manufacturer of Copper Fit, is located in Wayne, New Jersey. They have strong partnerships with other renowned retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Kmart, and Costco Wholesale. As a result, they have the largest retail distribution networks in the US.

Other featured products they sell include HD Vision eyewear, Micro Touch grooming products for men, and Finishing Touch hair removal product for women. They also sell houseware products, cutlery, handheld sewing machines, self-edging paint products, and personal care cosmetics, among others. The company, however, is currently facing stiff competition in selling compression wear products like Copper Fit. Companies like SKINS, CEP, and Zoot Sports also sell top-notch compression gear.

Essential Things to Consider

Copper Fit compression sleeves are ideal for people who need help with painful muscles. However, they are excellent for enhancing blood circulation. People mostly wear copper fit supports when engaging in physical exercises and also at any time the muscles are sore and/or stiff. That said, consider the following when selecting the appropriate Copper Fit for you:

  • The dominant muscles you use when performing physical activities and playing sports. For example, which leg usually kicks the longest passes for you during football?
  • The size of the elbow or knee you intend to wear the Copper Fit on. To measure this, tie a tape measure around the circumference of the middle of your thigh when sitting in a relaxed position, then read the scale.
  • The area you are experiencing the most cramps or muscle pulls.
  • Your budget. Everything always boils down to money, right? If you have enough cash, purchase the entire set. You can never really know when or which muscles might overcompensate for any particular action.

You should note, however, that the Copper Fit supports are only effective when worn properly and when correctly sized.

Advantages of Copper Fit

  • Compression garments provide better pivotal support for the muscles and reduce stiffness during contraction.
  • Keeping the muscles at optimum temperature prevents fatigue. To be precise, warmth improves the rate of oxygen release from hemoglobin. On the other hand, when cold, the enzymes work slower to release oxygen.
  • Copper Fit supports reducing the time muscles take to recover.
  • They improve blood circulation at the joints and working muscles.
  • Compression wear prevents the formation of blood clots and decreases inflammation.
  • The Copper inside helps limit the build-up of bacteria and, by extension, reduces odor after strenuous workouts.

Disadvantages of Copper Fit

Like every other product out there, copper fit supports have their own share of demerits.

  • The copper present will most likely vanish after several washes.
  • Some claims made by the manufacturer regarding its benefits are difficult to verify.

Do Knee Sleeves Help with Knee Pain

Findings from Clinical Studies Regarding Compressional Gear

While these findings apply to all compressional gear, they do support some of the claims made by Copper Fit about their products, partly supporting their credibility. For Example:

  • Contrary to popular belief, compression wear like Copper Fit supports does not increase the performance of your muscles. It only alleviates soreness. This is because adding gear to the muscles does not increase muscle size or strength.
  • The ratings of perceived exertion and muscle fatigue are the same as those without compression gear.
  • Copper fit increases the rate of lactate removal after exercises.
  • Endurance slightly increases, but this study can be biased depending on initial oxygen intake and lung capacity.

Strenuous and exerting activities can cause occasional muscle soreness and aches. In as much as there are many treatments for these ailments, Copper Fit supports still place as a better option as it tries to solve these problems on the go. It may not completely make future problems go away, but it sure does make them at least bearable.

On the other hand, you must not rely solely on the advantages that Copper Fit provides. Always depend on the professional opinion of a medical practitioner for persisting pains and sores. Finally, to answer the question that has been on everyone’s minds, does Copper Fit really work? Yes, Copper Fit supports work as far as compressional wear is expected to.

Now, on to the fun part! If you are considering buying a knee sleeve, looking for a Copper Fit knee sleeve review is critical, as it will provide you with the information you need about a knee sleeve.

In this guide, we will evaluate some of the best knee sleeves in the market to help you make the right choice.

BUYER’S GUIDE

Knee sleeves have various features, and each of them provides different benefits. That is why if you are planning to buy the right one, make sure you know about the features a knee sleeve should have. Here is a simple buying guide to help you make the right decision.

1. Value for Money

The most important thing when buying a knee sleeve is figuring out your main reason for buying. Why are you planning to buy a knee sleeve?

  • Do you need protection from knee injuries?
  • Are you recovering from a knee problem or injury?
  • Are you planning to start your workout?
  • Are you active in sports?

Through those simple questions, you can easily know what type of knee sleeve you will buy. You only get the best value for your money if you buy a knee sleeve that can offer exactly what you require.

2. Size and Fit

There are knee sleeves with a one-size-fits-all design, but most of them come in different sizes. It means that if you make a mistake with the sizing, the knee sleeve will either be too tight or too big. You have to remember that if a knee sleeve is too tight, it will prevent proper blood circulation in your knees.

If the knee sleeve is too big, you won’t get the proper compression that you need for your knees. Hence, if you are going to buy a knee sleeve online, make sure that you check their sizing and measure your legs and knees so that you won’t make a mistake.

3. Moisture-Wicking Feature

Copper Fit knee sleeves are very popular because of their moisture-wicking properties, which would prevent too much heat and moisture from entering the sleeves. This is one of the properties that you have to check because heat and moisture can worsen the injury on your knee, and it will surely cause discomfort. Moisture-wicking properties can prevent moisture build-up, and it can also help disperse heat.

4. Flexibility

The key indicator of the performance of a knee sleeve is its flexibility. If the knee sleeve is not flexible, it is uncomfortable to use. Just imagine stretching and bending your knee while the fabric of the sleeve bunches up from behind your knee.

This is not a sign of a high-quality knee sleeve. Basically, there are a few things that you need to know when checking the flexibility of a knee sleeve.

  • You do not need a sleeve with a lot of flexibility for heavy lifting. You need something that offers more support to your knees.
  • For running or other sports, you need something with moderate flexibility and support. It has to be balanced so that it won’t restrict your movements too much.
  • For injury recovery, you need a knee sleeve with the best flexibility with little support.

5. Durability

When it comes to durability, your knee sleeve should be able to last at least one or two years for heavy users. If your knee sleeve becomes unusable after a couple of months, it means that the quality is not too good.

Most of the knee sleeves are made from almost the same fabric. It means that the problem will not be on the fabric itself but on how the product is manufactured. As such, you should only buy from reputable and well-known brands like Copper Fit to ensure the quality is superb.

6. Washing Options

This is not really a big issue, but you might want to buy a knee sleeve that can be washed through your washing machine. All sleeves can be washed by hand, but it is better if they can be machine washed for more convenience.

You should also look for a knee sleeve that doesn’t react to bleach solutions. This is to make sure that it can still maintain its color after being washed multiple times.

7. Warmth

For this particular feature, it will depend on your preference. Some people want more warmth on their knees, while some prefer a knee sleeve that is more breathable. That said, generally, thicker sleeves are warmer and thinner ones are cooler.

8. Compression and Support

Like what was mentioned earlier, the level of support depends on your current predicament. If you are going to lift heavy items, you need more support. On the other hand, if you want to recover from an injury, low support is needed.

As for compression, almost all types of knee sleeves provide adequate compression, but it is usually dependent on the fit of the sleeves. If it fits perfectly on your knees, you can experience the best compression.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most of you probably have a lot of questions when it comes to Copper Fit knee sleeves so instead of looking for another Copper Fit knee sleeve review to browse the answers that you need, we will list down some of the frequently asked questions about the product.

1. Do Knee Sleeves Help with Knee Pain?

Yes. Knee sleeves are made to help reduce the pain in your knees. Knee compression sleeves are often used to protect your knees from injury, but the compression provided by the knee sleeve can also reduce the pain.

However, you cannot expect the knee sleeves to serve as a pain reliever because it can only reduce the pain. It doesn’t have the ability to prevent it completely.

2. Is It Safe to Wear a Knee Sleeve All Day?

Yes, it is very safe to wear a knee sleeve all day as long as it has a moisture-wicking feature that would prevent moisture build-up. Do note, though, that you shouldn’t use a knee sleeve for 24 hours.

Nonetheless, it is not a bad idea to wear it the whole day, especially if you are wearing jeans, since no one will notice that you are wearing a knee sleeve. Just make sure you remove it once you get home.

3. How Tight Should Knee Sleeves Be?

To determine the right tightness for your knee sleeves, you should use the two-finger rule. What you need to do is wear the knee sleeves and then slide two fingers inside. If you are having a hard time fitting the two fingers, it means that the sleeves are too tight.

If you slip the two fingers and it goes in easily, and you can still insert a third finger, it means that the fit is too loose. Thus, the perfect fit is when you place your two fingers without hassles and too much space between the sleeve and your knee.

4. What Size Knee Sleeve Should I Get?

The appropriate size of the knee sleeve that you should get would depend on the measurement of your knees and legs. Copper Fit knee sleeves usually provide a measurement for the sizing so you can just follow it to get your size.

5. Is It Ok to Sleep with a Knee Compression Sleeve On?

No, it is not advisable to wear knee compression while you are sleeping. You can find knee sleeves that are made for overnight use, but it is better not to use them while sleeping. That is because all your muscles are resting at night, so you don’t need knee compression.

Final Verdict

Among the different Copper Fit knee sleeves mentioned above, Copper Fit Original Recovery Knee Sleeve is the best choice. It provides all the features that the other knee sleeves have, and it can perfectly fit on your knees. It is also not too expensive, and it provides the right amount of compression at the same time.

Looking for the best knee sleeves doesn’t have to be too complicated. As long as you know the features and you know what you need, it won’t be too difficult to find what you are looking for. You just have to be very meticulous when it comes to the features and be wary of the sizing as it can affect the compression of the sleeves.

  1. Not easy to find out which knee sleeve to choose. There are so many to choose from – thanks for giving some inspiration for this.

Are there any of the sleeves that are better for certain sports than others? For example which sleeve would be best for high impact sports like martial arts?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    • Hi, Mikael and thank you.

When there is 3 very good product to choose from it can be tricky to choose one.

But with martial arts in mind, I would personally choose Copper Fit Original Recovery Knee Sleeve. The reason for that is number one the 4-way stretch. You need to have a sleeve in the martial art which hold well but not made any movement difficult. The 4-way stretch is excellent with that in mind.
Too, for the same reason, because how soft it is.
